Car Goes Airborne In Fatal Crash

The 22-year-old blew past a stop sign, witnesses said. There were no preliminary signs of drugs or alcohol.

AURORA, IL — The Kane County Coroner's Office is taking toxicology samples from the deceased driver in a fatal Saturday night crash, police say. Brian Dorantes, 22, of Chicago, partially ejected from his 2003 Acura RSX just before 10:30 p.m. near the Far West Side.

Witnesses said he was heading west on Indian Trail very fast, according to a press release from Aurora Police. When Dorantes approached the intersection with Deerpath Road, he moved into the opposing lanes and blew past a stop sign through the intersection. His car was briefly airborne, and when it landed, he collided with two trees on the north side of the street.

Dorantes was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:47 p.m. Police report no preliminary signs of alcohol or drug use.
