Chicago Fire Cast Gives Hilarious Review Of Basement Of The Dead

The Aurora haunted house prompted one cast member to recommend a visit to the bathroom before entry.

AURORA, IL — Basement of the Dead in Aurora is the world's best haunted house, according to Buzzfeed. Cosmopolitan recently named it the best in Illinois. It continually tops lists for best haunted attractions in the Midwest and beyond. But don't take their word for it. Saturday night, the cast of NBC's "Chicago Fire" visited the spooky joint and gave it rave reviews.

Jason Seneker is one of the owners and operators of the basement. He captured the cast's reaction Saturday night. Said Joe Minoso, who portrays Joe Cruz on "Chicago Fire," "...the adrenaline is driving me crazy."

The rest of the cast appeared to thoroughly enjoyed their time in the basement, as well. Yuri Sardarov (a.k.a. Brian Zvonecek), Kara Killmer (who plays Sylvie Brett) and Miranda Rae Mayo (Stella Kidd) can be heard hooting and hollering in the background of Minoso's commentary. He advises those who enter to "go to the bathroom before you go into the haunted house. That is a good idea."

"It was a huge honor to have them down to the Basement. They were all extremely nice and gracious to us and our cast of monsters."

It's not too late to catch Halloween thrills at Basement of the Dead. It will be open Halloween night 'til 10 p.m. and once more Nov. 4 from 7 p.m. until 10. Beyond that, says Seneker, they'll offer laser tag and escape rooms.

The basement is rooted in a legend of a father and son who both worked for Aurora's largest laundry company at 42 W. New York Street. The two complained about a coal fired boiler that needed to be replaced, but management wouldn't spend the money. In 1964, that boiler exploded, damaging the father and son permanently. They never returned to work but vowed to get even. Head to the haunted house's website for the rest of the story.

The cast took in quite a few scares that evening, but not enough to keep them from Sunday's #OneChicagoDay. Stars of "Chicago Fire" met with other actors from NBC's two other Chicago-based TV shows, "Chicago P.D." and "Chicago Med." "Chicago Fire" airs Thursdays at 9 p.m.
