Coronavirus Vaccinations To Start Thursday For Aurora VNA Workers

AURORA, IL — Employees at VNA Health Care in Aurora are set to end 2020 by receiving the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

The company said it is holding a vaccination clinic Thursday to start administering doses to staff who interact with patients.

VNA Health Care president and CEO Linnea Windel said the timing of the vaccination clinic is a great way to end a difficult year “that has been indelibly shaped by the emergence of the COVID-19 global pandemic.”

“After a year in which we have not only seen extraordinary challenges and loss, but also courage and resilience, it seems particularly fitting that we should end the year of 2020 with celebration and hope as we begin administering this vaccine that will help save lives," Windel said in a news release.

VNA Health Care has administered more than 25,000 coronavirus tests throughout the pandemic, while also providing contact tracing and follow-up care.

Claire Dobbins, the company’s chief clinical officer, urged residents to get the coronavirus vaccine when it is made available to them.

“Vaccination providers each of us with a critical opportunity to protect ourselves, protect our loved ones and protect our community,” Dobbins said in the release.

VNA Health Care officials said they are working to organize vaccination clinics for patients and the public as more vaccines are distributed.
