East Aurora District 131  joins the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) in sharing the statewide 5Essentials Survey of school climate and learning conditions.

The Illinois 5Essentials Survey provides a unique opportunity for teachers, parents, and students in grades 4 through 12 to have a voice in improving their schools. From January 11 through March 11, 2022, students and teachers will be asked to take a 25-minute research-based survey to help identify strengths and weaknesses in their school’s learning environment. Parents are also asked to complete the survey, which serves as an opportunity for schools to reflect on progress since the last statewide implementation. Your identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child. Survey is also available in Spanish for parents and students.

The Illinois 5Essentials Survey is critical to understanding East Aurora student, teacher, and parent perspectives on how their school’s organizational culture is meeting their needs, specifically in regards to five “essentials” elements critical for educational success:

Prior research in more than 400 schools has shown that schools that were strong on at least three of these “5Essential” indicators were 10 times more likely to improve student learning gains in math and reading than those that were weak on three or more Essentials.

All EA teachers, parents, and students are invited to share their experience and unique perspective to help our district grow. To take the survey, please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ and select the appropriate survey to begin.
