First Baby Of 2022 Born At Aurora's AMITA Medical Center

The hospital welcomed its first birth of the year: a boy weighing 6 lbs and 9 oz.

AURORA, IL — The first baby of the year has been born at AMITA Health Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, and it's a boy.

Froylan Ortiz-Garcia was born at 1:16 p.m. Monday to Aurora residents Julia Garcia and Jose Ortiz. The boy, at 19.5 inches, weighed 6 lbs and 9 oz.

Dr. Brett Cassidy delivered the hospital's first-of-the-year baby. This year at the Aurora hospital, no babies were born on New Year's Day.
