Free Flu Shots Available To Aurora Seniors Amid Pandemic

AURORA, IL — Senior citizens in the Aurora area will have several opportunities over the coming weeks to get a free flu vaccine.

People 65 and older can stop by the Aurora Township Senior Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday to receive a flu vaccination, which is covered by Medicare Part B and most health insurance plans, according to officials.

Free flu shots will also be available to seniors next month at a drive-thru clinic outside the Aurora Township Senior Center. That clinic is scheduled to run from 9-11 a.m. Oct. 5.

The Beecher Center in Yorkville is also set to host a drive-thru vaccination clinic from 9-11 a.m. Oct. 2, as public health officials encourage residents to get vaccinated for the flu amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Anyone interested in receiving a vaccination in Aurora should call the Aurora Senior Services at 630-897-4035. Those who want to participate in the Yorkville clinic should call 630-553-5777.

Virtual Race To Raise Funds For Aurora Food Pantry

Seniors must bring their Medicare cards to receive a vaccine. Officials are also asking people to wear masks and practice social distancing while at the clinics.
