Free Health Fest Coming To Prisco Center This Weekend

The community health fair, hosted by Rep. Barbara Hernandez, will feature food giveaways, free screenings and community resources.

AURORA, IL — Another free community health fair is scheduled to take place in Aurora Saturday. The event is hosted by Rep. Barbara Hernandez (D-Aurora) in partnership with Health Choice Illinois and Meridian.

The community can visit Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to participate in healthy food giveaways and free screenings while utilizing local resources, according to a news release. Some activities people will be able to participate in include Zumba, yoga and food demonstrations.

Hernandez said she is hosting the free event to help low-income and minority communities in the area who might have difficulty accessing basic health services and information.

"Being in good health is more than just a balanced diet and exercise, knowing when and how to access important screenings and immunizations can go a long way," she said in a statement. "This Saturday’s event can help bridge the gap between the people who need these services and those who provide them."
