This IL Police Department Made The Most DUI Arrests In The State

AURORA, IL — Aurora police led all Illinois municipal police departments in making the most driving under the influence arrests in 2024, officials said Monday.

Last year, the Aurora Police Department made 473 arrests related to inebriated driving. The result was a 29 percent increase from the 366 DUI arrests made in 2023, according to the department.

The Aurora Police Department has ranked No. 1 in DUI enforcement in the state for three years in a row now, and four times in six years.

The numbers reflect Aurora officers' "continued focus on keeping impaired drivers off the road," officials wrote Monday in a Facebook post.

"This isn't about rankings — it's about responsibility, officials wrote. "... We're proud of the efforts by our officers, but even more proud to be part of a community that values safety. If you're going out, plan ahead. Never drive impaired."
