Illness Shuts Down Aurora Catholic School

The principal reported that about a fifth of students were out sick on Thursday

Holy Angels Catholic School in Aurora was scheduled to be closed on Friday due to a mass illness, according to the Beacon News. Principal Tonya Forbes said in an emailed statement that about one in five students were absent on Thursday due to illness.

Students were reporting flu-like symptoms, upper respiratory infections and symptoms of strep throat. Forbes said that teachers and staff would disinfect classrooms and air out the school.

In early January, St. Charles East High School shut down for two days after about a third of the 2,500 students fell ill.
