Mobile Coronavirus Testing Unit Coming To Aurora This Week

Tests are set to be available Wednesday at the Centennial House and on Friday at Maple Terrace.

AURORA, IL — State officials are sending a mobile coronavirus testing unit to Aurora this week to bolster local testing capacities. The mobile unit is scheduled to make be set up in the city Wednesday and Friday, according to the Kane County Health Department.

The testing unit is scheduled to be at the Centennial House, located at 1630 W. Plum St., on Wednesday and at Maple Terrace, 905 2nd Ave.,on Friday. Tests will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, according to health officials.

Anyone can be tested for the coronavirus at the mobile unit, regardless of symptoms, officials said, encouraging anyone who has been recently exposed to a potential or confirmed case to get tested.

Those who want to be tested must provide a name and phone number so officials can reach them later with their test results. Officials are also asking people to bring a photo ID.

Those who want to remain in their cars during the test must be seated at a functioning window, though both sites will also allow people to walk up, officials said. Test results should be available within four to seven days, officials said.
