Rash Of Business Burglaries In Aurora: Police Investigating

18 businesses have been hit since October, some more than once

Aurora police are investigating 18 burglaries to businesses since October, according to a department Facebook post. Some businesses have been hit more than once, and the combined loss for the burglaries exceeds $13,000. Police have no suspects or description of the perpetrator(s).

The following six businesses were burglarized more than once.

  • A muffler shop in the 700 block of N. Lake St. at 6:21 a.m., Jan. 26; between 1:45 p.m. Nov. 24 and 8 a.m., Nov. 25; and 3:22 a.m., Nov. 14. Computer equipment and cash were taken in the November break-ins. Nothing was missing in January.
  • A music shop and department store in the 1000 block of E. Galena at 5:04 a.m., Jan. 28; and 4:04 a.m., Nov. 16. Cash and electronics were taken in the November incident; nothing was missing in January.
  • A wireless phone store in the 1100 block of E. New York at 6:12 a.m., Jan. 29; and 5:48 a.m., Nov. 28. Nothing was missing in either incident.
  • A different wireless phone store in the 900 block of E. New York at 12:56 a.m., Jan. 2; 5:50 a.m., Nov. 13; and 2:52 a.m., Nov. 11. Electronics and money were taken in the latest burglary; electronics were stolen in both November incidents.
  • A liquor store in the 700 block of N. Lake at 3:29 a.m., Nov. 6; and 3:55 a.m., Nov. 1. Nothing was missing in either incident.
  • A rental business in the 900 block of N. Lake at 12:41 a.m., Nov. 29; and 6:13 a.m., Oct. 27. Cash was taken in the first burglary; nothing was missing in the second.

  • A mobile phone store in the 300 block of W. Indian Trail at 7:17 a.m., Jan. 28. Nothing was taken.
  • A gas station in the 1000 block of E. New York between 9 p.m., Jan. 26 and 3:53 a.m., Jan. 27. Nothing was missing.
  • A vacant wireless store in the 900 block of E. New York around 8:23 a.m., Jan. 23. Nothing was taken.
  • A pharmacy in the 300 block of W. Indian Trail at 7:35 a.m., Jan. 8, where prescription drugs were stolen.

Police are encouraging anyone with information to call Aurora Police Investigations at 630-256-5500, Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000, or submit tips through the “My PD” app. Information called into Crime Stoppers that leads to an arrest or arrests may qualify for a cash reward and all calls are anonymous.
