Semi 'Fully Engulfed In Flames' After Crash On I-88 In Aurora: ISP

A car and a semi-trailer truck crashed Monday afternoon on Interstate 88 near Farnsworth Avenue.

AURORA, IL — A semi-trailer truck caught fire Monday afternoon on Interstate 88, according to Illinois State Police officials.

The crash between the semi and a passenger vehicle happened at about noon on westbound I-88 near Farnsworth Avenue. Police said the truck became "fully engulfed in flames" due to the crash, Trooper Josh Robinson told Patch.

Minor injuries were reported, Robinson said.

All westbound lanes and one eastbound lane are closed while officials investigate and clear the scene.

In an alert published at 12:14 p.m. on Facebook, Aurora police said they are assisting Illinois State Police with the fire and asked drivers to use alternate routes while lanes are closed.
