Social Media Threat Not Directed At Aurora School: Police
The threat circulated among students in Aurora, police said.
AURORA, IL — As numerous school districts and police departments in the Chicago area deal with unsubstantiated school threats online, Aurora police say a social media threat has circulated among students in the City of Aurora.
"The Aurora Police Department takes all threats seriously and are actively investigating this incident," police said Thursday night. "At this time, it appears that this post has circulated in multiple states and is not directed at any specific school within the City of Aurora."
In a news release, Aurora police reminded residents, "Please remember that school safety is a shared responsibility. Exchanging such posts with your peers online can create unnecessary concern. We ask that instead of sharing these messages online, you report them to law enforcement. The Aurora Police Department is grateful to those who reported the situation—when you see something, say something."
