Sugar Grove Man Found Guilty Of Sexually Abusing 10-Year-Old Foster Boy

He faces up to 90 years in prison, and there is another case pending against him.

On Friday, a Kane County jury convicted Noel F. Buhay of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, according to the Kane County State's Attorney Office.

Last week, prosecutors presented evidence and argued that Buhay, 49-year-old Sugar Grove man, had repeatedly sexually abused a foster child in 2004. According to the Beacon News, prosecutors said Buhay sexually abused a 10-year-old boy who was living with Buhay's family in 2004. The assaults occurred in Buhay's home, according to prosecutors.

Buhay is also facing nearly 30 counts of allegedly sexually assaulting another boy. Prosecutors said Buhay contacted the victim from 2004 and told him to stay quiet while authorities investigated the other case. Rather than staying silent, the first victim, now 23, testified in court.

Buhay will be sentenced on June 2, and he faces 18 to 90 years in prison. He had been free on $30,000 bond until the announcement of the verdict, when he was taken into custody. Buhay will be required to register for life as a sexual offender.

According to the Department of Justice, 1.8 million American adolescents have been sexually assaulted.
