Walk to School Day 2016: Aurora and North Aurora Schools Participate
Aurora and North Aurora schools join more than 4,000 other schools around the world in taking a walk on Wednesday.

AURORA, IL — Schools in Aurora and North Aurora are among the more than 4,000 around the world participating in International Walk to School Day on Wednesday.
Students from Bardwell Elementary, Beaupre Elementary, C. I Johnson Elementary School, Dieterich Elementary, E.M. Rollins Elementary, Fred Rodgers Magnet Academy, Freeman Elementary, Gates Elementary School, Hermes Elementary, Hope D. Wall, K. D. Waldo Middle School, Krug Elementary, L.D. Brady Elementary, Mabel O'Donnell Elementary , O.C. Allen Elamentary, Oak Park Elementary, Our Lady of Good Counsel, Simmons Middle School, Fearn Elementary and Goodwin Elementary will walk to school Wednesday.
Walk to School Day was started by the Partnership for a Walkable America in 1997. The first event, National Walk Our Children to School Day, was in Chicago.

“In the USA and Canada, International Walk to School Day galvanizes visibility for walking and bicycling to school,” the organization says on its website. “Over time, this event has been part of a movement for year-round safe routes to school and a celebration — with record breaking participation — each October.”
