Waubonsee Sugar Grove Campus Closed For The Day and Evening

A water main break has forced the campus to close down. An update will come this afternoon.

SUGAR GROVE, IL — Waubonsee Community College Sugar Grove campus classes and activities were cancelled Wednesday due to a water main break. WCC said in an earlier press release that classes would be cancelled for just the day, and could possibley resume at night.

Another press release later in the day noted that while the repair work on the broken water main is going well, classes and activities will remain cancelled for the evening. Officials anticipate that the Sugar Grove Campus will return to normal operations and schedules on Thursday, Dec. 14. If there are any changes to that, updateswill be posted on the college website and social media platforms by 5:00 a.m.

Another statement said, "students have, or soon will, hear from their instructors with specific guidance on how their final examinations or other remaining course work will proceed."

Steven Miller, WCC's communications manager, said that crews staged equipment late Tuesday night, shortly after the water main broke. Workers began recovery at daybreak, and were still determining the source of the leak as of Wednesday morning. He did not know the extent of damage at the time.

All other campuses are fully operational. This closure only applies to Sugar Grove.
