• Quest Academy alumnus receives second patent award from Vedder Price (shawlocal.com) — A Barrington student, Rayan Zaidi, has earned his second Vedder Price Patent Award for inventing a fire-safety device called PyroShield while at Quest Academy in Palatine. Now a freshman at Lake Forest Academy, he previously won for an invention named RollStop, and his teachers say he exemplifies creativity, problem-solving, and a passion for STEM innovation. 
• Boys basketball: Hersey holds off Barrington to maintain MSL West lead (dailyherald.com) — Barrington High School’s boys basketball team pushed powerful Hersey to the wire at home Thursday night before falling 58-51 in a hard-fought MSL West matchup. Senior Oliver Gray poured in 25 points to keep the Broncos close, and coach Bryan Tucker praised his players’ fight against the conference leaders.
