3 Winners Chosen For Kane County's 'Name The Snowplow' Contest
The "Name the Snowplow" contest saw more than 100 creative entries, Kane County Division of Transportation representatives said.
KANE COUNTY, IL — The Kane County Division of Transportation asked locals to come up with creative names for its snowplows, and residents delivered.
The lighthearted "Name the Snowplow" contest drew more than 100 "clever and imaginative" submissions from residents across the county.
The winners were determined by a committee of KDOT employees, who reviewed all entries and selected three standouts, which "proved to be no easy task," representatives wrote in a news release.

- First place: Plowasaurus Rex. The name was submitted by Olivia Gates, a second-grade student from Batavia, who was inspired by her younger brother's love of dinosaurs.
- Second place: Clear-o-patha. The playful twist on Cleopatra was submitted by Erik Jensen, a resident of Batavia dubbed the "master of puns" by his family. Jensen was inspired by a series he recently streamed about ancient Rome.
- Third place: Mailbox Mauler. The name was submitted by David Bus. The name may sound mischievous, but KDOT officials noted crews "take great care to avoid damaging mailboxes." About a dozen mailboxes are accidentally struck each season, the department said.
The winning names and associated images will be attached to plow trucks this year, Maintenance Superintendent Michael Way told Patch. The winners will also be invited to KDOT headquarters in Campton Hills to see their names on the truck and take a tour of the facility.
