Batavia Business Owners Reveal Return to St. Charles Roots

A basement-born business is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year amidst owners' plan to move it back to where it all began.

A St. Charles-born manufacturing business will soon be making its way back to the area after a stint in Batavia.

Forty-year-old medical scales company, Doran Scales Inc., is closing its doors at 1315 Paramount Parkway in Batavia for a move to the east side of St. Charles, reported The Kane County Chronicle. It will also be switching its China-based manufacturing to the U.S.

The company started in a family basement, owner Mark Podl said, noting that the move will occur in early 2017.

"Because Doran Scales hadn’t yet closed on the property in St. Charles, Podl said he didn’t want to be too specific about the company’s future address but said it is vacant land," the story says. "According to city documents, the business has identified parcels in the Legacy Business Park near the East Side Sports Complex."
