Batavia Liquor Store Burglarized: Police
The burglar smashed the front door and stole numerous products from Liquor & Tobacco, Batavia police said.

BATAVIA, IL — A Batavia liquor store was burglarized early Tuesday morning, police said.
Batavia officers were dispatched at about 2:10 a.m. to Liquor & Tobacco, located at 1804 Mill St., for an alarm that was activated due to an active break-in and burglary. The front door to the store had been smashed, and multiple products were stolen, police said.

Upon arrival, an officer witnessed "what appeared to be the suspect vehicle" leaving the parking lot. The car fled from police and was last seen heading south near South Randall Road and Orchard Road.
"Due to excessive speeds, Batavia officers discontinued pursuit of the vehicle due to public safety considerations," officials said in a news release.

Officials said Tuesday afternoon that they are actively following leads as part of an investigation into the burglary. Police said there is no active threat to the public's safety.
