BATAVIA, IL — The Batavia Plan Commission voted 7-0 Wednesday against a proposal to the city's zoning code that would lead to the establishment of zoning for four marijuana-related businesses, according to Kane County Chronicle. Planners believe Batavia should wait until city residents decide a November referendum regarding whether recreational cannabis dispensaries be allowed in Batavia, the news report said.

As of December 30, 2019, neighboring communities St. Charles, Geneva and North Aurora have voted to allow recreational cannabis dispensaries, while Naperville, Wheaton and Sugar Grove have decided not to allow them.
