City Council Approves $165K Contract With New Administrator

Batavia's new administrator started this week after the city council approved her employment contract.

Batavia's new city administrator took the helm this week following the city council's Tuesday night approval of her $165,000 per year employment contract.

The Daily Herald reports that Laura Newman, a local resident, is working alongside Bill McGrath, the now former city administrator who is in the midst of retiring. He will formally leave at the end of July.

"Newman, one of 46 candidates for the job, worked for 11 years for Mitutoyo," the story says. "Before that, she was a lawyer in St. Charles. She also was director of employee relations at the University of Toledo.
