St. Charles Man Jumps Into Fox River To Save Dog, Both Rescued: Batavia Police
Police found the St. Charles man clutching his dog while hugging a concrete wall on the east bank of the Fox River.
BATAVIA, IL — Batavia police rescued a man and his dog after he jumped into the Fox River to save his pet Wednesday, officials said.
Officers were dispatched at 12:16 a.m. to the Fox River in the 500 block of North River Street when they found a 36-year-old St. Charles man hugging a concrete wall, his dog in his arms, just south of the dam. The man was in chest-deep waters with strong currents and was unable to get out of the water, officials said.
The man was with a friend, who called 911 upon realizing he needed help, according to the police.

First responders — including crews from the Batavia Fire Department, Batavia Police Department and Kane County Sheriff's Department — pulled the man and his dog out using ropes to lift them over the concrete wall that trapped them in the water.
Both were uninjured and released from the scene after refusing medical attention.
