New Restaurant Chicken Salad Chick To Open In Former Crabby Boil Spot

Batavia's Chicken Salad Chick, which will be located on Randall Road, will be the chain's first location in the Chicagoland area.

BATAVIA, IL — Chicken Salad Chick, a restaurant with a chicken-focused menu, will make its Chicagoland debut in Batavia, Mayor Jeffery Schielke announced.

The restaurant, which operates more than 200 locations across the country, will move into the former Crabby Boil space on Randall Road, near Menards.

"They just erected a big banner across the whole building announced that ... Chicken Salad Chick is coming in there," the mayor said in his weekly video posted on YouTube Friday.

The menu features a variety of traditional, spicy, and fruity and nutty chicken salads — it's what put the chain "on the map," according to its website. Pimento cheese dishes, salads, sandwiches, soups and sweet treats are also offered.

Founder Stacy Brown first launched Chicken Salad Chick in Alabama in 2008. Before the first restaurant opened, "The Original Chick," as Brown came to be known, first embarked on a quest to make the perfect chicken salad recipe, reads the business's website. She soon perfected her recipe and began selling it door-to-door, and as orders came flooding in, Chicken Salad Chick was born.

In Illinois, Chicken Salad Chick can be found in Peoria and near St. Louis.

"I heard they're very popular," Schielke said.

Chicken Salad Chick won't be far from Batavia's first Culver's that's expected to open at the southeast corner of Mill Street and Randall Road.
