• Lincoln-Way East downs host Bradley-Bourbonnais 59-20 in SWSC dual (shawlocal.com) — Batavia will host the Clint Arlis Invitational on Jan. 17, drawing top wrestlers like Lincoln-Way East as they gear up for the postseason. The Griffins just dominated Bradley-Bourbonnais 59-20 and are eyeing another regional title, while both programs fine-tune technique and conditioning ahead of conference, the Batavia invite, and regional competition.

• Man Who Fired 70 Round At Batavia Police Died Of Self-Inflicted Gunshot: State's Attorney (patch.com) — Authorities have ruled that the man who fired more than 70 rounds during an August standoff in a Batavia apartment on East Wilson Street died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, not police fire. Kane County’s state’s attorney found officers were justified in returning fire while rescuing two children, and the case has been returned to Batavia police for any further investigation.

• ‘It should never have happened'– Local Democrats call for investigation after fatal ICE shooting in Minnesota (shawlocal.com) — Batavia is among several Kane County communities that have already banned ICE from using public property, a step immigrant advocates now urge more suburbs to take after a controversial fatal ICE shooting in Minneapolis. Local and Illinois officials are demanding investigations and tighter accountability, saying aggressive federal tactics elsewhere raise safety and civil rights concerns close to home.
