Reports Of Car Burglaries In 2024 Down From Prior Year: Kane Sheriff
The Kane County Sheriff's Office took 22 fewer reports of car burglaries in 2024 compared to 2023, officials said.

KANE COUNTY, IL — The Kane County Sheriff's Office saw a decrease in the number of car burglary reports deputies took in 2024 compared to the previous year, officials said.
The office took 45 reports in 2024 compared to 67 in 2023.
"If you see something in your neighborhood that looks suspicious, say something," officials wrote in a post on Facebook. "Our deputies would rather check on an area [than] respond later to find out a crime has been committed."

In the news release, officials urged residents not to leave anything on display in the car, whether they live in a low-crime area or not.
"Even an old coat on the back seat is a temptation for someone to 'smash and grab,'" officials said. "Take all your belongings with you when you leave the car especially the keys."
