See A Movie On IL's Largest Theater Screen At No Extra Cost This Summer
Emagine in Batavia is home to a movie theater screen the size of a professional basketball court.
BATAVIA, IL — Emagine Batavia, the home of what is said to be the largest movie theater screen in Illinois and Michigan, is giving cinephiles the chance to experience its Super EMX screen at no added cost for four days this summer.
When the theater opened in 2023 at 550 N. Randall Road in Batavia, it unveiled a screen spanning 92 feet and more than 48 feet tall — the size of a professional basketball court. The Super EMX and EMX screens, the latter of which varies in size by theater, are housed in "premium large format" auditoriums, meaning they have 4K laser projection, Dolby Atmos immersive sound and more than 300 reclining seats.
The promotion will run for all showtimes in EMX and Super EMX auditoriums on June 25, July 23, Aug. 13 and Aug. 27.

"We're proud of the innovation and premium experience our EMX and Super EMX auditoriums deliver," Paul Glantz, Chairman of Emagine Entertainment, said in a statement. "This program is our way of inviting more guests to see what sets our Premium Large Format screens apart, wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling visuals, powerful Dolby Atmos sound, and luxurious, reclining seating."
Before each movie is shown on the four promotion days, the theater will run a special trailer explaining the different features of the EMX and Super EMX screens and why there's typically an upcharge to see movies on them.
