Shots Fired On Randall Road, Gun Recovered: Batavia Police

BATAVIA, IL — Shots were fired Sunday night in the 300 block of North Randall Road, prompting a police investigation, officials said.

Batavia officers were dispatched at about 8:06 p.m. after a 911 caller reported hearing a man and a woman arguing, followed by a possible gunshot before they fled the scene in a car, officials said Monday morning.

Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle nearby matching the witness's description. Police also found a woman, described by witnesses as being involved in the incident, and detained her, according to a news release. Officials said they are withholding her information pending further investigation.

Detectives recovered a gun from the scene but said there was no evidence indicating anyone was injured by a gunshot.

"The initial investigation found evidence indicating a firearm was discharged in the area of the reported argument," police said in the release.

Police said they have not found any indication this was a random incident. Officials believe the shooting to be an isolated incident posing no threat to the community.

The incident remains under investigation, and Batavia police are asking anyone with information to contact the department at 630-454-2500.
