'Suspicious Person' Prompts Batavia Schools Lockdown: Police
Police responded to a person dressed in all black carrying an unknown object at Big Woods Park.
BATAVIA, IL — Two Batavia schools were briefly on lockdown Tuesday morning after police responded to a report of a "suspicious person" just before 9 p.m. at Big Woods Park, 1063 S. Raddant Road, according to police.
Police said the person was described as a white male dressed in all black clothing, wearing a backpack and standing on the baseball field.
When officers arrived, the person fled from them, running through the park and holding an unknown object in his hand, according to police.

Based on the "unusual behavior" of the person, Rotolo Middle School and Immanuel Lutheran School were notified and placed into a secure status as a precaution, police said.
Officers quickly found the person in the nearby residential area and determined he did not pose a threat to public safety, according to police.
