19th Ward Youth Foundation Plans Polar Plunge

The fundraising effort will see local officials brave the wintry temps.

The 19th Ward Youth Foundation invites all residents to join its team for the Chicago Polar Plunge, which will take place on March 3 at North Avenue Beach from 9:30 am to 2 pm.

Already committed to taking part in the 19th Ward Youth Foundation Chicago Polar Plunge team are 19th Ward Alderman Matt O’Shea, 18th District State Senator Bill Cunningham, and 35th District State Representative Fran Hurley.

To join the 19th ward Youth Foundation Polar Plunge Team, please visit www.sochicago.org, and register to participate in the Chicago Polar Plunge.

Participants can then “Join A Team”, and choose the 19th Ward Youth Foundation Team. All plungers are asked to raise a minimum of $150 and will receive a complimentary t-shirt and towel.

Money raised through the Chicago Polar Plunge helps to provide year-round programming and activities for the more than 5000 Chicago-area Special Olympics athletes.

After the Plunge, a “Melt Down party” will take place inside the North Avenue Beach boathouse and in expanded heated tents from 11am-2pm. Admission is free and participants will receive free food and non-alcoholic beverages. Warm up and celebrate with great music. Cash bar available.
