Convicted Burglar on Parole Charged With Top Notch Burglary

Trammel Johnson, 52, was charged with burglary after police say he robbed the restaurant while wearing a plastic bag on his head.

A convicted burglar who was out on parole has been charged with burglarizing a popular Beverly eatery last week. 

Trammel Johnson, 52, has been charged with felony burglary after police say they found him with a box of money in hand and a plastic bag on his head. 

As Patch reported last week, police heard a burglary alarm and saw broken glass in the front of the restaurant at 2116 W. 95th Street around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10. They then found a man with a plastic bag over his head and a box of money in his hand, according to Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien.

Johnson attempted to flee from the officers, but was apprehended, police said. He suffered injuries during the arrest and was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital where he was stabilized and treated.

Ald. Matt O'Shea described Johnson as having an "extensive criminal history." He was on parole after being convicted of a previous burglary when the alleged incident took place.

Johnson's bail was set at $250,000, according to county records.
