Explosions at Boston Marathon, Race Had 361 Chicago Runners
Multiple injuries and at least two deaths have been reported.
A series of explosions near the end of the Boston Marathon has left at least two people dead and has injured dozens more.
Time Magazine is reporting that two people have been killed and 22 are injured as a result of the explosions at the Boston Marathon.

According to CNN, the explosions occurred a few seconds apart at about 2:45 p.m. Eastern.
The Boston Marathon headquarters is on lockdown, according to Reuters.
Boston Marathon officials shared this message on Facebook: "There were two bombs that exploded near the finish line in today's Boston Marathon. We are working with law enforcement to understand what exactly has happened."
The Boston Marathon website shows that 974 people from Illinois are participating in this year's event, including 361 runners from Chicago. There was one runner, a 27-year-old man, listed from Oak Lawn and no runners from Evergreen Park.

There were three runners listed as coming from the 60655 zip code and another three from 60643, the two main codes for Beverly, Mt. Greenwood and Morgan Park.
The Yankee Runners, a local group from area suburbs and Chicago, reports that all their participants are safe, according to Palos Patch.

Several people have commented on the Beverly-Mt. Greenwood Patch Facebook page about the explosions. One reader says she knows someone who was getting water near the finish line when the explosions occurred and that he is experiencing deafness in one ear.
Another reader reports that a Chicago firefighter he knows was running in the race and that he finished safely about 10 minutes before the explosion.
