Mount Carmel Wins 4A Baseball State Championship

The Caravan takes home their second state title of the year.

It's another state title for the Caravan.

Mount Carmel beat Libertyville on June 8 to claim the state title in Class 4A baseball. The Caravan came out on top in a close 2-1 game.

This marks the second state championship of the year for Mount Carmel who also took home the football crown last fall.

Jeremy Kravetz took the mound for Mount Carmel and held Libertyville to just one run. Jason Gasser hit a double to give the Caravan the lead and they never looked back.

"It's the greatest year of my life," Gasser told the Chicago Tribune. "We did something in baseball that's never been done, winning our first state championship. It's just been unbelievable. I can't even describe the feeling right now. I'm just so proud of my teammates, coaches and fans for supporting us."
