St. Cajetan 6th Grader Wins Worth Township Spelling Bee

Worth Township has announced the winners of the 36^th Annual Lenon Wisdom Memorial Spelling Bee. The bee was held on Friday, April 12. 

Participants were divided into two divisions.  The Senior Division consisted of 7^th and 8^thgraders and the Junior Division consisted of 5^th and 6^th grades.  

Junior Division

1^st Place - Abigail Svilar of Chicago, age 12 / Grade 6, St. Cajetan School

2^nd Place - Adeline Larsen of Palos Heights, age 10 / Grade 5, Southwest Chicago Christian

3^rd Place - Paris Williams of Harvey, age 10 / Grade 5, St. Benedict School

Senior Division

1^st Place - Richard Godsel of Oak Lawn, age 12 / Grade 7, St. Gerald School

2^nd Place - Tom Micun of Oak Lawn, age 14 / Grade 8, St. Gerald School

3^rd Place - Eleanor Tiemens of Worth, age 13 / Grade 7, Southwest Chicago Christian

Winners received trophies and certificates along with checks which were donated by the Law Office of John Z Toscas.  First place winners received a $200 check; second place winners received a $100 check and third place winners received a $75 check. 

This annual event is held under the direction of Worth Township Trustee Jack Lind and the Youth Commission whose director is Sue Sortino.
