Free Early Childhood Language Screenings Offered At Saint Xavier University

SXU's Ludden Speech Clinic offers free speech and language screenings for children ages 1 through 3, Friday, Nov. 21. Appointments required.

CHICAGO — If you’re concerned about your toddler’s speech development, the Ludden Speech Clinic at Saint Xavier University is providing free speech and language screenings to children in the community between one and three years old Friday, Nov. 21. Screenings will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the speech clinic, 3700 W. 103rd St., Chicago.

Appointments are required for the 30-minute screening. Screenings and diagnostics serve distinct purposes. Should the results of a screening suggest that further information is required, then a diagnostic evaluation will be recommended.

Students from SXU’s communication sciences and disorders department will administer the speech and language evaluations to children under the supervision of speech pathologists.

Based on the screening results, it may be recommended that your child participate in a diagnostic evaluation.

Diagnostic evaluations can be completed through your school district, early intervention, a private provider, or at the Ludden Speech and Language Clinic (pending availability via waitlist)
