Watch 'Deep Dish' Bertoletti Swallow 120 Eggs in Less than a Minute

The Morgan Park grad and extreme-eating champ wowed the "America's Got Talent" judges with his iron stomach. What will he eat next?

Is hastily mashing food into your gullet a talent?

Maybe so, maybe not. Regardless, Patrick “Deep Dish” Bertoletti secured himself a spot on the TV show “America’s Got Talent” by gulping down 120 raw eggs in less than a minute — as judges Mel B, Heidi Klum and Howard Stern tried not to gag. Host Nick Cannon stood by with a trash basket just in case Bertoletti heaved the raw eggs as quickly as they went down.

The 29-year-old chef and co-owner of Taco in a Bag in Chicago’s Lincoln Square community got big YES votes from the judges in the audition rounds last Tuesday.

“How does somebody wake up and go, ‘I‘m going to be an extreme eater?’” judge Mel B asked.

“When God was giving out talents he ran out and he gave me that,” Bertoletti replied. “It’s my one talent in life.”

Bertoletti has beaten some of the biggest stomachs in the competitive game, including Joey “Jaws” Chestnut and the legend, Takeru “The Tsunami” Kobayashi.

Deep Dish, who grew up in Palos Heights as the youngest of five siblings, is a graduate of Morgan Park Academy. As a culinary arts student and newcomer to the extreme eating game in 2006, he aspired to own a gourmet restaurant. Over the last nine years, he’s racked up a list of victories and world records, including:

  • 16-inch pizza: 47 slices in 10 minutes
  • Blueberry pie: 9.17 lbs in 8 minutes
  • Chicken wings: 4.1 lbs in 8 minutes
  • Corned beef and cabbage: 10.63 lbs in 10 minutes
  • Doughnuts (cream-filled): 47 glazed and cream-filled doughnuts in 5 minutes
  • Grits: 21 lbs in 10 minutes

The judges now start making cuts to determine who appears on the live shows in August. “America’s Got Talent” airs 7 p.m. Tuesdays on NBC.
