Wounded Mt. Greenwood Cop to Participate in Coin Toss at Bears Game
Del Pearson, a Chicago police officer and Mt. Greenwood resident, was seriously wounded several months ago. On Sunday he will be center stage at Soldier Field.
Officer Del Pearson was shot in the chest in last March while on duty.
The bullet pierced an artery in his chest between his collar bone and chest protector, resulting in the loss of over 75 percent of his blood.
Less than a year later, Pearson will be front and center at Soldier Field as he presents the coin for this Sunday's coin toss.

Pearson was treated at Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn and the hospital invited him to participate in today's toss. He will be joined on the field by Mary Ann Brooks, his primary critical care nurse during the five days he spent at the hospital.
The game starts at noon on Dec. 2 and the toss will happen at 11:55 a.m.
