Bolingbrook To Host Fifth Annual Juneteenth Festival
The theme for the fifth annual event is "The Year of the Woman."
BOLINGBROOK, IL — Juneteenth, the village's "celebration of community, inspiration and unity" — will return to Bolingbrook for the fifth year from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at the Performing Arts Center, 375 W. Briarcliff Road.
Bolingbrook businessman Lawrence E. Cooper, former owner of Coop's Den, is the founder of Juneteenth and calls the event "a community celebration, bridging, age, race and status."
The event offers music, dance and the "Blazin' in the Brook" Juneteenth BBQ cook-off. This year's theme is "The Year of the Woman."
