Bolingbrook Nonprofit Facing Catalytic Converter Theft Again, Asks For Support

4 KIDS Sake Food Pantry is facing a second catalytic converter theft this year.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — For the second time this year, a Bolingbrook food pantry is facing issues due to the theft of the catalytic converter of its box truck.

4 KIDS Sake Food Pantry delivers foods to hundreds of families weekly, and it does so through the use of its box truck.

"Entering into this holiday season there was so much to be grateful for yet this morning we woke up to disappointment finding that the catalytic converter was stolen off of our box truck yet again," the nonprofit said on its Facebook page.

"After this happened once we recovered and stepped up even stronger to serve our community this week in amazing ways and still are facing the challenges of simply evil people," the nonprofit said. "We will recover, we will build towards different solutions, and we will continue to not let this impact who we are."

The nonprofit is asking supporters to give donations on Giving Tuesday. With the support of CoVantage Cares, donations will be matched up to $10,000.

4 KIDS Sake said it has been in awe of the support it has received from the community.

"We are asking for your help once again, please consider supporting us this holiday and letting your donation be doubled in its impact for us, for our community, and for the families who depend on us most," the nonprofit said.

The nonprofit opened in 2019 in Bolingbrook. It started by serving around 80 families per week, and served up to 1,200 families weekly during the COVID-19 lockdowns.
