Bolingbrook Park District Receives Urban Forest Grants

The park district received the grants as part of the Illinois Community Canopy Grant Program.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Bolingbrook Park District has received two grants to help the park district better manage its urban forest, the park district shared in a news release.

The park district received the grants as part of the Illinois Community Canopy Grant Program, made possible through a collaborative partnership between Trees Forever and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

The grants will allow for the removal of hazardous trees along a walking path, as well as expand the native tree diversity at Knights of Columbus Park, according to the park district.

Trees Forever is a nonprofit organization dedicated to environmental stewardship and community forestry. The organization works across Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin to help communities enhance their urban canopies through strategic tree planting initiatives that provide lasting environmental and economic benefits, the park district said.
