Bolingbrook Police Cracking Down On Illegal Fireworks
Disobeying the village's fireworks ordinance gets you a $50 fine for each violation.

BOLINGBROOK, IL —The Bolingbrook Police Department announced it will be aggressively enforcing Village Ordinance 19-510 prohibiting the possession of fireworks. Each occurrence is subject to a $50 fine, according to police, who say they will be out in force to ensure villagewide compliance.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s (CPSC) 2018 Fireworks Annual Report, fireworks were involved in an estimated 11,100 injuries treated in U.S. hospital emergency departments during the previous calendar year.
There were an estimated 900 emergency department-treated injuries associated with sparklers and 400 with bottle rockets. Sparklers were the most common type of fireworks causing injury to pre-schoolers and 400 of the 900 sparkler injuries were related to children under 5 years old. Young adults 20 to 24 years of age were the highest estimated rate of emergency department–treated fireworks-related injuries in 2017.

The best way to protect your family is to not use any fireworks at home. Attend public firework displays and leave the lighting to the professionals.
