Bolingbrook Police Officers Raise $6,200 In Polar Plunge Event

BOLINGBROOK, IL — On the warmest day of 2022 thus far, Bolingbrook Police officers took a polar plunge, helping raise money for Special Olympics in Illinois.

Officers from the department participated in the event on Saturday, when temperatures rose into the mid to upper 60s. The annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Polar Plunge is one of many fundraising events that go to support Special Olympics athletes from around the state.

The local effort has raised more than $6,200, organizers announced on Monday. The amount quadrupled what the Bolingbrook officers set for themselves. Local residents are able to still contribute to the effort, which ensures that Special Olympics athletes can compete in year-round sports and training as well as health and wellness programs.
