Local companies, groups and charities have donated to make sure kids a great start to the school year.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A number of local companies, charities and associations have helped make sure Valley View School District students have a great start to the school year. Nearly $2,000, over 60 backpacks and thousands of school supplies have been donated to the district so far this year.
The donations are the result of work of the Valley View Community School Initiative, which seeks to make sure schools are focal points of communities, and that communities support those schools. The district "is honored to be supported in the Community Schools Initiative by several businesses and organizations that have provided donations," a statement from Valley View reads.
Here are some of the donations Valley View has received since the start of the school year.
