Community Health Fair Oct. 18 at R.C. Hill School

The Health Fair, which runs from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., will feature a 4 p.m. conversation on parenting skills with Don Mitckess from Alexian Brothers Behavorial Health Hospital.

Moms and dads, aunts and uncles or just about anyone else looking for some new tips to add to their parenting toolbox will have a golden opportunity to do just that at the first ever R.C. Hill Community Health Fair on Oct. 18.

The Health Fair, which runs from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., will feature a 4 p.m. conversation on parenting skills with Don Mitckess from Alexian Brothers Behavorial Health Hospital.

In addition, the Will County Health Department will be on hand to provide flu shots to both adults ($28) and children ($16.75.) Those who wish to use  Medicare/Medicaid cards should bring their cards with them. Parents or legal guardians must accompany children. Payment must be by cash or check.

Among exhibitors at the fair will be the Back to Basics Health Center, , an optometrist, the Romeoville Dental Center and the Trinity Services Autism and Family Resource Center. Edward Hospital will also demonstrate tips on how to prevent dog bites using real dogs.

“This is our community and, from a general health perspective, we want to help the entire community understand what resources are available for them,” said R.C. Hill Nurse Joan Kittler who is organizing the event with help from the school’s PTO. “It’s important for everyone to look at things from a health aspect.”

Spanish language translators will be available for the parenting discussion.
