'Domestic Dispute' Leads To Assault Charges For Bolingbrook Man: Cops

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A Bolingbrook man has been charged with aggravated assault after he pointed a gun at a victim during a domestic dispute on Christmas Eve, according to Bolingbrook Police.
Chase Huffman, 19, of Bolingbrook, has been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and no firearm owner identification card in connection to the incident.
Police said they responded to the 200 block of Sioux at 12:44 p.m. on Dec. 24 for "domestic trouble involving a gun." Huffman had fled the area before officers arrived.

According to police, officers learned Huffman had pointed a gun at the victim after a child custody dispute. Huffman was found walking toward his home, where he was detained and identified by the victim.
Huffman was taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility. He was remanded Tuesday after a detention hearing.

Several residents reported a police presence at a pond in Bolingbrook, and police said that investigators obtained information that the gun used in the incident was discarded into the pond. The pond was searched on Tuesday, but no evidence was found, police said.
