CosMc's McDonald's Spinoff To Open 1st Location In Illinois

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Bolingbrook will be the first location in the country to welcome a new McDonald's Corporation concept called CosMc's.

The new concept will open at the former Boston Market location at 285 N. Weber Road, near an existing McDonald's restaurant. Details are scarce on what exactly the new concept offers, but Patch has reached out to McDonald's for more information.

"McDonald's has been reluctant to share" details about the new restaurant concept, Business Insider Reported, but quoted McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski in calling it a "small-format concept with all the DNA of McDonald's but its own unique personality."

The outlet reported that TikToker @snackolator posted video of the restaurant under construction, showing what appeared to be four drive-thru lanes and speculating that it could compete against Starbucks with a focus on McCafe coffee offerings.

Photos posted on a local Facebook page showed a menu with fruity drink offerings, slushes and frappes, as well as coffee, ice cream, sandwiches and McDonald's breakfast offerings like the Egg McMuffin.

"We are very excited that McDonald's Corporation has chosen the Village of Bolingbrook as the first location in the nation to welcome their new concept," Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta told Patch.

She added that the McDonald's that is next door to the new CosMc's location is a corporate-owned location, and not a franchise.

Alexander-Basta said the Village expects to share more information after a McDonald's investor meeting on Dec. 6.

"As with any new business that comes to Bolingbrook, we wish them great success," Alexander-Basta said.

No exact opening date was given, but the Village has previously said the business would open shortly after the end of November.
