Five Things to Know this Weekend: Aug. 5-7

Looking for things to do? Stuff to know? People to meet? We've got it all in our "Five Things" feature.

1. St. Dominic's Paris Picnic and Festival 

To celebrate the Feast of Saint Dominic, the annual will be held Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and have plenty of food, music, games, a climbing wall and a train for the kids. 

The drawing for the raffle (a 2011 Hyundai Accent GLS) will be at 5 p.m.—tickets are $10 each.

The picnic will conclude with a procession of a statue of Saint Dominic to the church at 6:45 p.m., followed by evening prayer.

2. Neighborhood Garage Sale at Augusta Village

  • Where: W Boughton Rd & Forsythia St, Bolingbrook, IL 60490 (Between Kings Road & Palmer Drive, North and South of Boughton Road)
  • Date: August 5-6
  • Time: 9am–3pm
  • More than 55 homes are participating in the annual Augusta Village Garage Sale.  Come find great deals on toys, clothes, books, tools, household items, etc. etc.  Print out the attached map to find out the exact locations of the sales.  

3. Jubilee Baptist Church's Back to School Fair

  • Where: , 660 Royce Rd.
  • Date: Saturday
  • Time: 9am–1pm

School supply kits will be made available on a first come, first serve basis, quantities are limited. Proof of guardianship is required in order to participate.

School supply kits contain all the necessary items for every student to start the first day of school prepared for a successful school year. Kits are available for grades K thru 12th. Each student will also receive a backpack. There will be random drawings for gifts & prizes.
