Fugitive Wanted In Violent Bolingbrook Home Invasion Captured

Police say "habitual criminal" Avante Temple forced his way into a woman's home and pistol whipped her in front of their children.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A "habitual criminal" and documented gang member wanted in connection with a violent Bolingbrook home invasion was arrested Monday by the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force, including deputies with the Will County Sheriff's Warrant Division, police said.

Avante D. Temple, 24, of Chicago, is charged with home invasion causing injury, being an armed habitual criminal, a felon in possession of a weapon and aggravated battery/use of a deadly weapon in connection with a Feb. 18 incident in Bolingbrook. Police say Temple forced his way into the home of the mother of his children armed with a handgun, then pistol whipped her while their children were present.

Police say Temple remained in the woman's home for hours before eventually leaving and has a history of committing crimes against her. On Feb. 26, Bolingbrook police requested the assistance of the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force in locating and apprehending Temple.

On Monday, investigators identified a location for Temple in Chicago. Investigators began surveillance on the residence and positively identified Temple. After approaching the home and receiving no response from those inside, task force members breached the door of the home, located Temple and arrested him without incident, police said.

"Temple has an extensive criminal history involving weapons violations, shootings, and is a documented gang member," according to the sheriff's office. He is currently being held at the Will County Adult Detention Facility on $1 million bond.

Jail records list an address for Temple in the 3400 block of W. 74th Street in Chicago. A Bolingbrook woman was granted an emergency order of protection against him Feb. 19 and previously in September 2018, according to Will County court records.
