Georgia Woman Faces Murder Charge After Bolingbrook Fatal Shooting

The charges stem from a May 16 incident on Preston Drive in Bolingbrook.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A woman from Georgia has been charged with first-degree murder in connection to the shooting death of a Bolingbrook man, Terrell Johnson, in May, according to a release from Bolingbrook Police.

Bolingbrook Police detectives traveled to Rockford on July 11, and arrested Carla Williams, 28, of Atlanta, Georgia. Upon consultation with the Will County State’s Attorney's Office, Williams was charged with first-degree murder and was transferred to the custody of the Will County Adult Detention Facility on July 13.

Police said the case remains under investigation.

The charges stem from a May 16 incident on Preston Drive in Bolingbrook. Police said officers responded at 8:29 p.m. for a report of a person shot. When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive man, now identified as Terrell Johnson, 38, with apparent gunshot wounds.

Officers began giving medical aid, and paramedics soon took over life-saving measures and transported Johnson to an area hospital for treatment, where he was later pronounced deceased, according to police.

At the time of the incident in May, police said that no suspects had been located, but police believed the incident was not a random act.
