Kinetic Dance Company Has Strong Showing at Groove Dance Competition

Bolingbrook’s Kinetic Dance Company (KineDanCo, KDC) recently participated in the Oswego, IL Groove Regional Dance Competition (https://www.groovecompetition.com/home). The competition was held from February 14-16, 2025, at Oswego East High School. Groove holds regional competitions across the U.S. throughout the year with national championships held in June and July in Atlantic City, NJ, Nashville, TN, and Orlando, FL. Groove is based out of New Jersey and provides professional instructors to teach master classes at their conventions, as well as judges for the competition. KDC was joined by 20 other dance companies from Illinois and Wisconsin.

KDC won numerous awards at this year’s Oswego Regional competition. Groove’s adjudicated awards are (in descending order):

In addition to the adjudicated awards, Groove also recognized the top performers in each performance category for each age group that competed. Groove also presented studio-level awards in a variety of categories.

The Kinetic Dance Company - Professionalism Award

The studio Professionalism Award won by Kinetic Dance Company was awarded for, “a studio whose dancers and staff are extremely professional to work with throughout the duration of the event.” (https://register.onebeatdance.com/MediaResources/RulesRegulations/201/GR_Regional%20Rules_25%20(2)_9ed4ca13-20e6-4674-8b1e-8c58e0134178.pdf) The “Bid to Win” that accompanied certain awards placed the awarded routines in a pool with winners from other regional competitions around the country to potentially represent KDC at the Groove National Championships later this year.

Kinetic Dance Company (https://www.kinedanco.org) is based out of Dance Dimensions studio in Bolingbrook, under the supervision of Artistic Director, Kim Marie Peterson. They recently hosted the first Dancing with the “Stars” of Bolingbrook fundraiser event. Kinetic Dance Company is next scheduled to compete at the Tremaine Dance Conventions 2024-2025 convention tour’s Tremaine Chicago event. Tremaine Chicago Convention and Semi-Finals will be held March 15-16, 2025 at the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel & Convention Center, and will also present their spring concert performance on March 22, 2025, at The Yellow Box Theatre at Community Christian Church, 1635 Emerson Lane, Naperville, IL 60540.
